TRANSPOSITION OF THE EUROPEAN WHISTLEBLOWING DIRECTIVE

Giorgio Fraschini, Whistleblowing Program Manager, has provided important information about some of preliminary findings results.

Transparency International Italia has analyzed and compared the regulatory text of the articles outlined in the European Directive n.1937/2019 on whistleblowing with the Italian legislation regulated by Legislative Decree n.24/2023 on the protection of whistleblowers.

Transparency additionally traced some discrepancies and violations in the Italian implementation of the Directive, together with some areas where the new law is weaker than the pre-existing Italian law.

As a outcome of the analysis: a letter written and sent to the European Commission with the most relevant points of the analysis of the normative texts.
